SMS Phone Verification
AIO Axis uses one-time SMS passcodes to confirm that borrowers own the phone numbers on their account. This prevents fraud and creates a tamper-proof audit trail for compliance purposes.
How the process works
- Admin / Org user: An authorised AIO Axis system user creates a borrower or affiliate record and enters their mobile phone number to be verified.
- Borrower: The borrower receives a single SMS with a secure link and a 6-digit code. They open the link and enter the code to confirm ownership.
- System: On successful entry, the platform marks the number as verified and logs the event in the audit trail. No further messages are sent.
Compliance & data handling
- Phone numbers are used solely for identity verification — never for marketing
- Numbers are never shared with, sold to, or disclosed to any third party
- One message per verification event — no recurring messages
- Reply STOP to any message to opt out of future verifications
- Every verification is logged in an immutable audit trail
- OTPs expire automatically — codes cannot be reused
